Listening is using our auditory senses to absorb and it is with understanding or comprehension of what you're hearing. Listening, on the other hand, is consciously trying to hear something. When someone is speaking to you, you are focus on what they are saying, so you are listening to them. On the contrary, hearing is simply your body's ability to sense sound. Hearing just means a noise is striking your eardrums - doesn't mean you're paying it any mind. If something falls unexpectedly, and crashes on the floor, then you are hearing the crash. If a lecture is boring, you hear it just because you have ears to hear but you are not listening to it. If it is interesting, you are listening to it. So, listening is voluntary process while hearing is not.
Hmm...am I right???
